Finding HOPE
Overcoming 5 Common Chronic Pain Fears
By: Jena Ann, Hope Instilled
FEAR is what leaves us feeling stuck, it can control us and manipulate us if we let it. We might not even realize fear is in control. Thoughts in the back of our mind say things to us and we just listen automatically without hesitation.
What fears do you have with chronic pain? Do they have too much power? It is okay to have fears, we all do, but the question is to what degree? Are your fears controlling your life? Are they holding you back from making improvements?
Living with chronic pain is not easy, there are no easy solutions or magical cures, but there is always the possibility of finding more light in the darkness. Hope is available, change is inevitable, and improving your life is always possible.

Discovering Alternative Treatments: Naturopathic Medicine
From: Hope Instilled
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine (naturopathy) is based on the concept that the body has the natural ability to heal itself. A naturopath physician assesses a person as a whole, identifies the cause of the problem or illness, and treats it with natural solutions tailored to that patient. They also provide advice on lifestyle changes to treat health problems and even prevent them.
How Naturopaths Can Help with Chronic Pain
Since a naturopath looks at the whole health of a person on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels, they could be helpful at treating just about any chronic illness. In addition, treatments are non-invasive and natural so they are not harmful, side effects are rare. Secondly, physicians focus on finding the root causes for pain, unlike Modern Medicine that focuses on symptoms. Therefore, they eliminate the problems which allows a person’s body to heal, preventing the pain from getting worse with time. Thirdly, Naturopaths help people live healthier lifestyles, and give advice to prevent future diseases.

Exploring Wellness: Pilates
What is Pilates?
By: Hope Instilled
Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body (An Exercise in Balance: The Pilates Phenomenon). It will stabilize and strengthen your core postural muscles supporting the spine. Pilates helps with alignment which helps relieve and prevent back pain. When doing Pilates, you gain greater control over the movement of your body through correct spinal and pelvic alignment, concentration on movement, and through proper breathing.
Benefits of Pilates for Chronic Pain
Pilates exercises for chronic pain work by enhancing the primary muscular support system of the body, to offload the joints and important structures of the body, ultimately leading to a reduction of pain (Physiolates, 2018). Pilates is great for chronic pain sufferers because exercises are low impact, they increase muscle strength, and can be altered to fit your ability level. Often your brain will move away from focusing on painful areas when it is busy concentrating on the body as a whole.

HOW TO PREPARE
Take as softgel capsules. They are widely available in most natural health stores and online retailers. Recommended dosage is 50–75 milligrams twice a day. Start with a smaller amount to assess tolerance.
